Competitive Analysis: Robin Carnahan

By Anonymous

Currently Missouri’s Secretary of State, Robin Carnahan is a Democratic candidate in the running for a U.S. Senate position in 2010 for the state of Missouri.

Content: 5/10
With the "About Robin" section on the bottom right corner of the home page and no place to find her stance on any specific issue, it seems like content is an afterthought. There is an updated news section on the home page but aside from learning a bit about her background, undecided voters who visit the site will not find any other information that can sway their decision.

Functionality: 7/10
The main functions of the site speak loud and clear on the homepage. Along the right side of the web page, there is a join form, donate button, volunteer option, and section about the candidate. However, one of the main goals is to know more about the candidate's opinions on issues, and the site surely lacks that function.

Ease of Use: 8/10
The fonts are simple and readable. Although there is no menu bar, it is easy to navigate, simply because there are not many options to choose from beyond the main functions it serves. From an ease of use standpoint, this is a positive point because the layout is simple and users will not get lost.

Aesthetics: 8/10
The photographs used are clear, wholesome, and fits with the look of the website. Additionally, the various links, colors, and layout of the site all contribute to the modern feel of the website.

I encourage you to take a look at other campaign websites and perform a competitive analysis on your own.
